2021.12.04 22:05 TheArmoryOne Why didn't infantry during the colonial period have sidearms?

Hello, I've been looking into the American Revolution lately and wondered why didn't the infantry gave pistols or sidearms of some kind? It's said the officers had flintlocks, and the muskets had bayonets for when they're reloading or run out of ammo, but that's it apparently?
The British Army, an actual army, apparently didn't give their infantry pistols as well despite being an actual organized army instead of militia with mostly farmers.
Was there an actual reason, like not enough money to afford it, or something else entirely?

2021.12.04 22:05 Pokelego999 Just came up with a concept that could be neat

Higher leveled players know Gym Battles and the boring slog of sitting through beating up the mons with your much stronger ones is like. It gets tedious after awhile to go through and beat it three times. But I was thinking about it and realized a cool idea.
League Building
Basically a Gym, but stronger. Instead of each trainer putting in one Pokemon, they would instead select a team of six to put in. The team would have to consist of non repeats to stop the endless Blissey hordes of 2017, but otherwise they'd all be put in together. At the start, when the player goes in to challenge them, they are allowed to put in a team of six, but that team cannot be swapped out between the teams of six. These battles work as one after another. One team of six comes, is beaten, then the next team of six comes in. Healing is allowed between battles. Once the six teams are beaten, the gym is automatically won and reverted back to a regular gym.

Of course the idea requires a lot of ironing out in places, and it is missing bits (Like, how it would be determined that a Gym is a League Building.) Thoughts?

2021.12.04 22:05 Zenith-Astralis Cheap, safe to handle, low-oxygen solubility, STP fluids?

Hey all, hope this is the right sub, the gist is that I'm looking to cure a whole BUNCH of 3D printed resin parts (the low end of what you might think of as industrial scale) and have seen that some users report good results by submerging prints in water to reduce oxygen contact with their surface while exposing them to the UV curing lights (405nm is what the water-washable resin we use is spec'd at).
Is there another common fluid or substance that could be safely handled and removed that would significantly reduce the oxygen exposure? Would it be that much better, or should I just stick to water?
Thanks all!!
